Father Spied On Me Through My Car

When I was 18, my father gave me a car. It wasn’t fancy, but I was grateful. I believed it was his way of supporting me as I stepped into adulthood, a gesture of encouragement for my independence.

Yet, over the years, something never felt right. He always seemed to know where I was, who I was with, and even what I was talking about. It was unsettling, though I tried to dismiss it as coincidence.

There were times when my car wouldn’t start. He would say the battery was dead, but my instincts told me otherwise. Now I realize he was shutting it off remotely, controlling my movements without my knowledge.

Whenever I voiced my suspicions, he denied everything. He made me feel paranoid, as though I was imagining things. That constant dismissal chipped away at my confidence and left me questioning myself.

Last week, my husband and I finally uncovered the truth. Hidden inside the car were a GPS tracker, a microphone, and even a small camera. My husband began removing them, and at that very moment, my father shut the car off remotely.

That was the moment it all became clear. He had been watching and listening to me for years. The sense of violation was overwhelming.

This wasn’t love or protection. It was control, manipulation, and obsession. It was a betrayal of trust that cut deeply.

What makes it worse is that the car is still legally in his name. Even after all these years, I never truly owned it.

I feel disgusted, violated, and unsure of where to begin. Legally, emotionally, spiritually — I am lost.

Has anyone else faced something like this? How do you move forward after realizing someone you trusted has invaded your privacy so completely?
