My wife works from home three days a week. I work in the office five days a week.
Last night, while getting ready for the gym, I noticed something unusual. In my exercise drawer, right on top of the freshly washed clothes, was a pair of medium men’s swimming trunks. The problem is—they’re not mine.

I’m about 95% sure they don’t belong to me. I haven’t worn swimming trunks in over a year, and even if I had forgotten, these were sitting right at the top of my drawer with clothes I had just worn last week.
I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but I can’t shake the feeling that something isn’t right. How should I approach this without assuming too much?
For context, I don’t own a pool. My wife goes to the gym in the mornings on the days she works from home.
Here’s where my mind starts connecting dots. My gym does have a pool. Last week, my wife mentioned some of the people she talks to there—an older gentleman and another guy, younger, muscular, usually in cargo shorts. She asked if I knew them. I pretended not to, but I do. I’ve sat in the sauna with one of them before, and I know he swims.
This week, I found the shorts. My hypothesis is that one of these men came to my house after working out, changed clothes, and left the trunks behind without realizing it.
I don’t want to accuse without proof, but the situation feels suspicious. I’m trying to figure out how to move forward—calmly, clearly, and without letting emotions take over.
